Teachers Speak Out! Education in the Pandemic
Friday May 08, 2020
Friday May 08, 2020
On April 15 Prime Minister Scott Morrison took to the media to undermine state premiers and teachers and pit parents against teachers during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The federal Coalition government is exerting a lot of pressure on states to re-open schools yet what is the reality on the ground for School Teachers working in the midst of a health pandemic?
This episode of Green Left features a round-table discussion with school teachers Mary Merkenich, David Linden, Vivian Messimeris. All three are union activists and members of Socialist Alliance. Here they discuss the issues of: whether or not it's safe to re-open schools; their responses to the pressure from the Federal government; and how are schools that are open should address health and safety for workers and students. The podcast also addresses what teachers are campaigning for during this crisis?
